Novation releases Circuit firmware 1.6, bringing some great performance enhancements.
Earlier today, Novation announced the release of the latest firmware update to their very popular groove production tool, Circuit. Based on input from their Circuit Owners group, Novation has added some very cool functionalities to this already impressive product.
Circuit Gets Panning
Given that panning was the #1 most requested feature on the Circuit Owner’s Facebook group, Novation was keen to oblige. By adding panning to the workflow, Novation has opened up the stereo field, giving all of your drum and synth sounds plenty of room to breathe and inspire.
Circuit Adds Drum Micro Steps and FX Mute
With the 1.6 firmware, Novation has increased the drum sequence resolution, adding 6 micro steps to each step within the sequencer. This gives you access to stutter effects and fills, adding energy and movement to your parts.
Another particularly handy new function is FX Mute. This performance-friendly update immediately toggles your FX on and off at the touch of a pad, which is great for offering dynamic contrast from one measure to another.
Circuit Adds Light Dim and More
Circuit 1.6 provides users two new options for tweaking some general functionality. You can now go in and adjust the “Light Dim” setting (AKA, “Low Power Mode”), which will bring down the overall brightness of the unit, making it a bit easier on the eyes.
Finally, Novation has also added the ability to toggle the Transmit and Receive settings for Program Changes. Depending on how you’ve integrated Circuit with other gear (software and hardware), this will impact whether or not a Synth change on your Circuit will result in the sound being changed on your other gear. This also applies in reverse, impacting whether a program change made on another product, will impact your Circuit.
