Fender Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster

Fender Launches 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster Series

Posted on .

In celebration of their iconic offset guitar, Fender has announced three Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster models.

Originally released in 1958, Fender’s Jazzmaster was designed to be the top-of-the-line choice for the discerning guitarist. With a striking offset body design, unique sounding pickups and a flexible rhythm/lead circuit, the Jazzmaster was loaded with distinguishing features. 60 years later, Fender has commemorated this groundbreaking electric guitar with three distinct 60th Anniversary Jazzmaster models: a Limited Edition 60th Anniverary ’58 Jazzmaster, a Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Classic Jazzmaster and a Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Triple Jazzmaster.

Let’s take a closer look at each model.

60th Anniversary ‘58 Jazzmaster

With a design based on the original prototype Jazzmaster, the 60th Anniversary ’58 Jazzmaster delivers a truly vintage experience. The ash body is finished in a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer and features vintage-style single coil Jazzmaster pickups in the bridge and neck positions. There’s also vintage-style floating tremolo bridge with lock button.

A striking 1-ply gold anodized aluminum pickguard nicely compliments the 2-color sunburst. Tonal controls include a 3-position pickup toggle switch, and Lead and Rhythm tone circuit controls.

Moving up the guitar we find a maple neck, with 7.25” rosewood fingerboard, 21 vintage tall frets, vintage clay dot inlays and a bone nut. The tuning machines are Pure Vintage Single Line “Fender Deluxe”.

Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Classic Jazzmaster

Based on the 1966 Jazzmaster, the Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Classic Jazzmaster offers some striking visuals: a bound neck, pearloid block inlays and a matching painted headstock. There’s plenty of vintage tone courtesy of the Classic Series ‘60s Jazzmaster single-coil pickups and the signature Jazzmaster lead/rhythm circuit. And it wouldn’t be a Fender Jazzmaster without a 6-saddle vintage-style adjustable bridge with floating tremolo tailpiece.

While these vintage looks are great to look at, the alder body Classic JM has some nice modern amenities, too. This model features an extremely comfortable “C”-shaped maple neck, with a modern 9.5” radius pau ferro fingerboard and 21 Narrow Tall frets.

The 60th Anniversary Classic Jazzmaster is available in Daphne Blue, Black, Vintage Blonde and Fiesta Red.

Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Triple Jazzmaster

If you’re looking for a slightly more modern Jazzmaster choice, you’ll want to take a look at the Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Triple Jazzmaster.

Perhaps most notably, the Triple JM features three Tim Shaw-designed custom humbucker pickups with FilterTron covers. A throaty, powerful bridge pickup is matched to chiming neck and middle pickups, giving you plenty of sonic choices to choose from. While it doesn’t feature the standard Jazzmaster Lead and Rhythm Circuit this model does feature some pretty wild electronic choices. A standard 5-way pickup switch offers a traditional Strat layout, while a special 2-way toggle switch uses position 3 on the pickup selector to activate the neck and bridge pickups in tandem.

A 60s Oval C-shaped neck has a comfortable 9.5” radius rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays, 21 Narrow Tall frets and a bone nut.
