Speculation is swirling around the Web about the possibility that former Blackhearts singer-guitarist Joan Jett will be Kurt Cobain’s stand-in when Nirvana is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight, April 10.
The buzz was fueled by a photo posted on the Foo Fighters’ Instagram account showing Dave Grohl’s drum kit, Krist Novoselic’s bass, Pat Smear’s guitar, and Joan Jett’s highly recognizable, densely stickered Gibson Melody Maker.
The Hall of Fame has been coy about whether the surviving Nirvana lineup will be performing at tonight’s ceremonies scheduled for broadcast on HBO on May 31. A recent tweet by Krist Novoselic saying he’s been practicing has helped amp up speculation that the band will indeed play.
